Valerie McIntyre, a seasoned Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with specialized certifications as an ADHD-Certified Clinical Service Provider (ADHD-CCSP) and a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional (CCATP), stands at the forefront of mental health care. With a deep-seated expertise in treating attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) alongside related conditions such as anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Valerie brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to her practice.

Earning her master’s in counseling from Chatham University in 2005, Valerie has dedicated her career to supporting children, adolescents, and adults through their mental health journeys. Her approach is firmly rooted in evidence-based methodologies, with a strong emphasis on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and behavioral therapy (BT), ensuring that her clients receive the most effective and research-backed interventions available.

Beyond these core practices, Valerie’s therapeutic repertoire extends to a variety of modalities tailored to meet the unique needs of her clients. She skillfully integrates art therapy, existential/humanistic therapy, family systems theory, interpersonal therapy, and solution-focused brief therapy into her treatment plans. This eclectic approach allows for a truly personalized therapy experience, addressing the multifaceted aspects of mental health and fostering profound healing and growth.

The foundation of Valiant Minds Counseling was born from Valerie’s vision to cultivate an environment where openness and safety converge, empowering clients to freely express their innermost thoughts, feelings, and concerns.
