Sam Kimball, LPC, NCC, is a compassionate and trauma-informed therapist who provides a safe, affirming space for individuals navigating trauma recovery, emotional pain, and identity exploration. Their clinical style is collaborative, strengths-based, and rooted in deep empathy, empowering clients to reclaim their stories and build meaningful, values-
aligned lives. Sam brings extensive experience in trauma recovery, grief support, and LGBTQIA+ mental health. They work with individuals experiencing complex trauma, relational wounds, identity-based stress, and emotional dysregulation. Drawing from a background in domestic violence advocacy
and crisis intervention, Sam has developed strong skills in helping clients process trauma, set healthy boundaries, and build emotional resilience. They are particularly attuned to the intersections of trauma, identity, and systemic oppression, offering care that is both socially aware and deeply personal. Their approach integrates evidence-based modalities including cognitive
behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive processing therapy, interpersonal therapy. They integrate mindfulness practices, humanistic approaches, relational-cultural therapy, and
narrative therapy into their practice. Sam’s therapeutic presence is calm, direct, and affirming creating the conditions for healing, growth, and greater self-trust.
In addition to being a Licensed Professional Counselor, Sam is a doctoral candidate in Counselor Education and Supervision at Duquesne University. They also serve as a University Supervisor at Northwestern
University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. Through their research and mentorship, they are actively contributing to the next generation of counselors and advancing the profession with a focus on
equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed care.
